THE SNOWFALL

The sky is filled,

This magic night,
With fairies, dancing
Down in white,
And diamonds all endowed;
A myriad of
Falling fluff,
As if, perhaps,
An angel’s puff,
Upset a passing cloud.

Down, down they drift,
Till the terrain
Is sprinkled o’er
With cellophane,
And all the world’s aglow;
But as they fall,
My fairies die,
And in the fields
So still they lie,
A sheet of silent snow.
